Do you need a verizon plan to use the HP mini netbook?

I really badly want a cheap laptop for entertainment, and I want to know if i need a verizon plan to use this laptop.

No, just keep in mind that you are going to pay more than the $199 you see in the Verizon commercial (the price in the commercial includes a 2 year Verizon service contract), and there are some cheaper netbooks that will offer similar if not better performance. Check out the Asus eee PC 1000 HE.
